Using WordPress Post
Do you even know what a Post is?
I have worked on a number of WordPress sites that where set up and given to clients for one reason or another. After I have fixed or updated their site I ask them how do you like WordPress? And most of them don’t have an answer while some didn’t even know that their website was a WordPress site.
Wow, what a shame. So many people use WordPress but remain clueless on how it can be utilized to help the website they are trying to create or find themselves stuck with because of the web designer they worked with.
Many of these sites are created just using Pages in WordPress which is simply wasteful. You could do some much more if you just took the time to figure out all the features you can use with WordPress to really make your website rock.
The first place to look is to gain an understanding of the differences between a Page and a Post in WordPress. Login to your Dashboard and take a look.
One thing you will notice is that under the Post tab you see a button for Categories and another one for Tags. This is something you don’t see on the Pages area.
If this is the first time you have looked here, you are going to want to look further.
The Post area of WordPress is what is openly referred to as the Blog. If you are not using the Post function of your site you don’t really have a Blog, you have a very simplified website and are really missing out on the true potential of WordPress.
There is a reason WordPress is so popular but if you don’t know how to use it you could be doing more harm then good. So few of the websites I work on using WordPress are configured or setup to really run and perform. Getting everything set and in place can take a little effort depending on what you are trying to accomplish but once it is done with direction and planning a Blog can really produce the results you are hoping for.
If you are using WordPress for your website and aren’t sure what your options are you should really take a closer look or have someone that knows on board with helping you out. Get your website out there and get in front of the people you want to.
Get blogging and get noticed.
Now that you know how to use Post on your WordPress Blog what’s next?
